As a parent, you want to do everything in your power to protect your child from harm. This includes protecting them from cyberbullying. According to the Cyberbullying Research Center, over half of all American teenagers have been bullied online, and one-third have been cyberbullied more than once. If you’re unsure how to protect your child from cyberbullying, don’t worry – we’re here to help. Besides, many technologies, like apps and certain features in social media, can help you do just that. In this blog post, we will share some tech-savvy tips that will help keep your child safe online.

Switch On the Parental Controls on Your Web Browser

Most web browsers, like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, offer some form of parental control. These controls allow you to block certain websites, limit the amount of time your child can spend online, and even monitor their activity. To turn on parental controls in Google Chrome, go to Settings > Family and other users. Click on Add a family member and then add your child. Once they’re added, you can click on Manage their Google Account and then turn on the parental controls.

Taking Advantage of Social Media Monitoring Tool for Parents

Did you know that Instagram has a tool that allows parents to monitor their child’s activity? It’s called the Instagram Parent Guide, and it’s a great way to keep an eye on your child’s online activity. To access the guide, go to the settings tab in the app and then click on Security. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and you will see the option to access the Parent Guide. Another great tool for parents is Facebook’s Activity Log. This log lets you see everything your child has posted on Facebook, including any posts they’ve been tagged in.

Tweak the Privacy Settings of Your Child’s Social Media

Your child’s social media privacy settings are another way to protect them from cyberbullying. For example, on Facebook, you can choose who can see your child’s posts and who can’t. You can also control who can send them messages and who can’t. To change these settings, go to the privacy tab in the app and then click on who can see your stuff. From there, you can choose to make your child’s posts visible to friends only, or you can even make them private.

Install an Anti-Bullying App on Your Child’s Phone

Some of the best anti-bullying apps for parents include Qustodio, Norton Family, and Kaspersky Safe Kids. With these apps, you can see your child’s online activity, block certain websites, and even set limits on their screen time.

Cyberbullying is a serious problem, but there are ways to protect your child from it. By using the tips in this blog post, you can help keep your child safe online.
