PROGRAMME 2011

MODULE 1 (14 writers)

SOS Module One will run from April until June 2011. It will begin with a one week intensive workshop in London. This first week is an opportunity to be immersed in the collaborative atmosphere of SOS, to meet the other writers and to begin working with the SOS mentors. This week will provide the platform to go forward and write a treatment or first draft over the next three months, which will also entail further remote support from the SOS mentors, and the other participants.

At the end of this period the writers will submit their treatment or first draft.

Based on the submitted material six of the module 1 writers are then invited to carry forward onto Module 2 of SOS.

MODULE 2 (6 writers & 6 producers)

At this point the six selected writers are joined by six producers.

Module Two will run from August to September 2011 and will involve workshops in two other European cities, and virtual support from the SOS mentors, and the other participants particulary the newly joined producers. This offers a unique opportunity to the writers to get a wide range of feedback, and for the producers to become involved in the development of up to six projects.

At the end of this period the writers will submit their projects for final feedback from industry figures, and the producers will also be offered guidance on their development strategies.

OUTSIDE THE MODULES

Outside of the SOS course there is a strong emphasis on encouraging the participants to collaborate with one another. A core concept of SOS is to generate a network of producers and writers who can support and work with one another not just during the programme, but also in their future careers.
