About Ruth
In 2007, Ruth graduated with a Post-Graduate diploma in Film at
Screen Academy Scotland having gained her honours degree at
Edinburgh College of Art. Her graduation film, SHE WANTED TO
BE BURNT, was nominated in competition in festivals in the
UK and across Europe and TANK.TV have programmed the film to appear in
an Artprojx showcase with the School of Visual
Arts, New York during Armory and Volta in 2011.
In 2009, DigiCult commissioned her short film
PARIS/SEXY. It premiered at the 64th Edinburgh
International Film Festival and was nominated for the UKFC Best
British Short film. It has since screened In Competition, including
Uppsala Short Film Festival and Encounters International Film
Festival and the 8th London Short Film Festival
where it won the award for UK Film Council Best British Short.
Ruth recently relocated to London to take part in the
prestigious Directors' Series at the National Film and Television
School. In 2010 she was selected for the Toronto Talent Lab 010
(35th Toronto International
Film Festival).
Ruth is currently working on a slate of short arts projects with
cinematographer David Liddell and writing a pilot with her Dad for
a series titled, DONLEAVY'S LOOT.

SHOWLAND is a romance about ill-fated lovers.
A contemporary tragedy about forbidden love and sacrifice set in
Scotland against the touring backdrops of travelling
Funfairs.
