Erinma's Project
The Interpreters
Leaving is easy - it's when you come home that the trouble
starts.
A present day drama set in Iraq and Denmark. Danish lawyer,
Jette, 36, is sent to Iraq to negotiate asylum in Denmark for the
Iraqi families of interpreters that have been working with the
Danish Army when it becomes unsafe for them to stay in Iraq. Her
experiences in Iraq have a profound effect on her and when she
returns to Denmark with a new cultural perspective, integrating
back into her old life is not as easy as she envisaged.
THE INTERPRETERS presents a tale of two cultures and the
hypocrisies and politics that divide them and what happens when
cultural boundaries are crossed and a common humanity is
discovered.
